When I moved to Austria from the Czech Republic, I was naturally curious about what Austrian beer culture had to offer. It took me some time to familiarize myself with the well-known beer brands as well as the local breweries.
Even though the number of small breweries in Austria is not nearly as high as in my home country, there is still a lot to discover here. So I didn't have to think long about which beers I wanted to taste as homework for my beer sommelier course. And while I'm at it, I'd like to share my impressions with you. Today I present to you the Tak Pale Ale from Bevog.

The first impression
At first glance, the graphic design of the label on the can piques my interest. The illustrated animal is somewhat reminiscent of a pirate. The association with the sea and distance also reinforces a rudder, even if the landscape in the background is more reminiscent of the Alps.
As soon as you open the can, the typical citrus aroma of an English pale ale comes out. When pouring, a beautiful white head of foam quickly forms, which lasts in the glass for a long time when tasting. Beneath the foam there is a sparkling, matt beer with a dark golden color.
Aroma
A fruity aroma is clearly noticeable on the nose, with citrus peel and orange pulp in the foreground.
Taste and mouthfeel
When drunk, Tak is a sparkling thirst quencher with a clearly noticeable bitterness. A rather slender malt body can be seen in the middle. A long-lasting bitter finish with clearly recognizable citrus notes completes the taste experience, just as you would expect from a pale ale.
Overall impression
The Tak Pale Ale from Bevog convinced me as a slim, aromatic pale ale with fruity notes on both the nose and the palate. After a stressful day at work, this beer acts as a refreshing thirst quencher that encourages you to keep drinking. An ideal accompaniment to a burger, steak or pizza with ham and mushrooms.
In my opinion a very successful beer. It's a shame I only had one can :-) The good news is that this beer is available from specialist retailers as well as well-stocked supermarkets such as Billa Plus or Spar.
